Gingerbread Madness-You Decide

Over the weekend my family decided to have a gingerbread house battle. It was quite the showdown with 6 people in the ring. Participants included Mom(Rhonda), Dad(Morris),Chad,McKay,Brandi, and Chris. Now for the rules....
*each team will consist of 3 builders-we'll draw names
*You can only use the contents of your kit-ok you can have scissors and dad had the genius idea of a bigger piece of cardboard(glad for that one)

House #1...Front and back
This lovely home features- The words "pick me" in front and "winner" in back. It comes complete with Santa's sleigh and a nice pile of "yellow" snow courtesy of rudolph. It has a very colorful flowerbed and plenty of trees for those "hide'n'seek" moments. The roof features scallop type shingles with plenty of icicles. It boasts a sweet smelling chimney too!!

House #2-front and back...
This small cottage claims a good size front door. It comes with christmas light around the roof and "xmas" spelled out for your enjoyment. It has a small walkway and heart shaped flowerbed. It comes with a beautiful fountain and christmas tree. Thr backyard has a gumdrop forest for playing games. It also has a sweet smelling chimney. It's mailbox really add character.

Now which house would you choose and why....(bonus if you guess the builders (3) on each team.
Note: The picture is NOT necessarily divided into teams-its just a family photo.

Why do I do this to myself

I am constantly reading something. But why don't I give myself a break? I feel like I have to prove something to myself....Note to self: ths is not a thereapy session!! Anywho-I have a current list of books requested at the library. 5-10 books is usually the norm. I almost alays have 4-5 books at home. Always books and more books.

This is what happens when I read................
Page 1:each line is 2 lines because I have some beer-goggle thing minus the beer.
Page 1: i either read this page or i'm having strong feelings of deja-vu
Page 2: i have reverted back to page 1 due to the eye twitching
Page 2: ok this is where i was before the twitching started-oh wait here comes deja-vu again
this process goes on and starts again several times for each book. It like i read 2 book instead of 1. i think ill double my book quota-instead of reading 35 books the # should be more like 70.

Im sorry this post is so short, but the keyboard is now becoming 1 button

Weird?!?

Chris and I went shopping at the farmer's market last week in order to satisfy my craving for a killer salad. While we were there I figured we should get some fresh corn. Ears of corn were only 12/$1 so why not. We decided to get six-it was only$0.50 cents so it wasn't like we were breaking the bank or anything. Well, we got home and only to discover....
yes-we got seven ears of corn. Have you ever seen something so....different? I was definitely taken aback by this little discovery. WEIRD!!

Mother/Daughter Fun

Last night was our mother/daughter R.S. Activity. My mom was able to join me and I was really excited. The decorations were absolutely beautiful. The purse and pinwheels theme was a great idea. We had chicken salad sandwhiches and fruit kabobs. We filled out bingo cards and played purse bingo after we ate. This paper bag purse was also one of our activities. I was really glad my mom was there to help out because there were too many projects being worked on for just me to help. The purses were well liked-there was a lot of praise for the idea. I was glad that the idea was a successful one. My mom and I weren't able to complete the the other projects, but i heard lot of compliments on those also. Fabric pinwheel bows for your hair-beautiful!

We were able to have our picture taken in the photo booth that was set-up. The big flower props were a very cute addition to the pictures.

Overall we had a wonderfull time. It just goes to show that you're never to old to party with your mother. So-thanks MOM.

It's here...It's here..It's here..It's here

Just in case you haven't heard...IT'S HERE!!! I can hardly contain my excitement. Last week I ordered a goodie box from Close to my Heart. It was delivered yesterday. I tried to get a picture of the box but was so excited all the pitures were blurry-darn shaky hands. This goodie box had my face lit-up like a kid at Christmas. I need new stamp sets. The newness has wore off the other ones. Who doesn't love rub-ons. They transfer on to just about everything. (not pvc pipe)I was starting to run low on white paper flowers-POOF!! All the other goodies will definitely be used-so thumbs up!! (pictue taken by the impartial hubby)

Memorial Day Chillaxin'

Attendess: Morris, Rhonda, Chad, McKay(Simba), Brandi, Chris--
not pictuered: Willie & Barbara Angle

We had a great time over the weekend.

Stunningly beautiful(and green) views. A nice set-up around the campfire. We had side-stitching laughter--

We even managed to have a lot of fun riding the golf cart and the quad!!

after the ride was over I became certain that I wouldn't fall off, but wasn't so sure during the ride.....

There was one hill that only McKay attempted and after it was over he said that we would NOT have stayed upright if there were any passengers with him.

riding the quad was a whole different story and Simba was willing to do it!!
Why was McKay named-Simba?? He has decided to grow out his hair and chooses to "fluff" it with his fingers. He was looking like a young lion cub.

It all about the "X"

The fam. started P90X about a week ago. I have to make a few modifications because of my MD, but I am plenty sore. Chris and I don't have the workout videos so we really get a lot of exercise when we use the Wii. We are having so much fun with the "X". I have learned a lot about exercise-especially about rags soaked in kerosene. When achieving your levels of soreness-one has to consider if they are having to much fun. I am hoping to acheive my goal of losing at least 5 lbs. I might have more success if I would stick to the diet plan that comes with the program, but that wouldn't be as fun!!!

Party!

Last night was our ward's annual Relief Society birthday. I am so kicking myself today for not taking my camera(maybe I just need to take it along all the time). I hope I can do enough justice to the beautiful decor by just describing it. The stage was set up with all RS presidents starting from 1842. Each was displayed on its own easel except for 6. The 6 were doubled with material covering the easel. --**---**---**--. Something like that. Then there was a big frame gift wrapped and presents underneath it at each end. There were nine tables set with blue napkins. Each napkin was beautifully adorned with a small RS seal. The theme for the evening was "Circle of Sisters". Each centerpiece had a rectangle tissue paper that was well coordinated with-you guessed it! CIRCLES. Cake pedestals were placed in the center of each table with cupcakes resting on top. Can I just say-BEAUTIFUL!!

Today??

I love going to the dentist. If my insurance would pay for a cleaning every 2 months-I'M SO THERE!! Unfortunately I only get this 2 times a year(call the WAAA-mbulance)
I recently experienced some dental work and the numbness that goes with it.
*"come in and make yourself comfortable" OK- it comes to mind that these experiences have always been easy-"this will numb your mouth so we can work with no feeling on your part"OK-this part has never bothered me-wait. has the needle always been that big? i think i should close my eyes-NOW! "we'll be back in a few minutes to give that ample time to sart working" OK-dum-de dum. i am humming to myself. it has now been 1 minute and nothing-oh oh wait what that slight tingling? i think its working. are they ever coming back? I KNOW I NEED TO BE NUMB EVERYWHERE-i KNOW that i am. "lets get started" OK-lets get DONE. "I need suction on this tooth" OK-you need a dry surface."More suction" arizona located in the southwest-not located in my mouth."More suction"you've not only got rid of the moisture in my mouth but the facets are dripping sand...hopefully i can get a drink soon. "We're almost done-just let me polish the tooth"OK-i so need to wet the ol' whistle so hurry up, doc. you know-i have a pretty bad gag reflex-i bet its worse when i have cotton mouth-(ack,ack-GET OUTTA MY MOUTH-no vesuvius today, but it was close. I get into my truck and desperately try to get a drink-nope, DENIED. my lips and tongue are so numb that the water just drips out of my mouth-oh wait. Ding Ding. i only had work on the right side. the left should be normal!! so much for that brillant idea. how long do i have to wait? well, lets go shopping and then go eat-the numbness will be gone by then. "can we eat now or do we need to wait?"asks my oh so wonderful hubby. well-i'm starving so who cares how my lips are-PIZZA my favorite. i'll order an extra cheese and mushroom. life is great-pizza,DRINK. (many heartfelt thanks to the inventor of the straw) i still am a little numb so ill tilt my head so that each bite of pizza falls to the left side-wait my oh so precious mushroom is falling off the pizza-quick quick use your mouth to grab it. yeah one side of my mouth is not closing all the way-oh darn. i just dropped my mushroom.

Cyber Farmer

well, i've been playin' farmville on facebook for almost 3 months now. Here are some of my thoughts-

THAT BULL IN THE GREEN DAIRY-(I SAY QUITE MOOING AND GET TO BUSINESS). I WANT A GREEN BABY MOO. MY BROWN COWS HAVE GIVEN BROWN BABY MOOS, MY PINK COWS GAVE ME A PINK BABY MOO, AND MY NORMAL COWS HAVE GIVEN ME A BABY MOO-WHERE IS THE GREEN?? MAYBE I NEED TO SWITCH AROUND ALL 12 BULLS UNTIL I FIND ONE THAT CAN GIVE THE DESIRED RESULTS.

ARE MY CHICKENS READY? I KNOW THEY ARE ONLY READY ONCE A DAY-BUT 2 TIMES IN 1 DAY COULD HAPPEN! ENOUGH WITH THE WAITING I'LL CHECK THE PIGS, RABBITS, PENGUINS, HORSES, TURKEYS, SHEEP, AND CATS. WAIT I NEED TO CHECK THE TREES. BACK TO THE CHICKENS-(I HATE WAITING)

WHAT?!? THE CROPS ARE READY-I'LL START HARVESTING THEM-NOW I CAN PLOW THE PLOTS-NOW WHAT TO PLANT?? SHOULD I PLANT A CROPP THATS READY TOMORROW OR IN 4 DAYS? I KNOW A VARIETY!!

WHAT ARE MY FRIENDS DOIN? WELL, I GOTTA LEND THEM A HAND. (I WOULD LIKE TO THANK MY HUSBAND AND MY MOM FOR HELPING RELIEVE MY FARMVILLE OBSESSION BY LETTING ME TEND THEIR FARMS DURING THEIR WORK DAY.) LET ME CHECK MY FARM AGAIN FOR ANYTHING I MIGHT'VE MISSED IN THE LAST 5 MINS.

I START THIS OVER EACH DAY AND AM CONSTANTLY CHECKING VARIOUS FARMS. MY HUSBAND SAYS I'VE BECOME OBSESSED AND AM STARTING TO NEGLECT OTHER TASKS, BUT I'M NOT READY TO ADMIT THAT HE IS PROBABLY RIGHT. I HAVE A LIBRARY BOOK DUE THURSDAY SO I GUESS I SHOULD START-BUT WHAT IF I MISS SOMETHING REALLY IMPORTANT ON MY FARM?? I DEFINITELY NEED TO LEAVE MY FARM FOR A FEW DAYS, BUT I START HAVING WITHDRAWLS AFTER 1 HOUR. AND I DON'T CARE IF WORK NEEDS DONE BECAUSE MY CROPS ARE READY. WHAT ELSE IS ON THE TO DO LIST?? CHECK THE FARM-

The kidney and the stone.........

It all began wed. morning. I was going to have a great day!! Well, the neighbor's annoying dog won't quit barking, so I guess the day will start earlier than planned. After my shower my tummy is hurting a little bit-no prob. i'll massage it. That kinda hurts a little, but the pain will probably realx if i keep going...WHATTHE. Did i rupture a bowel?(my family thinks i need a colonoscopy, but its too late now) i slowlt make my way to the couch and then proceed to think that the pain will go away shortly. No such luck. i have spent oodles of time racking my brain on how i might get this incredible pain to stop. its so bad i stay on the couch laying on my back. i finally call my husband and when he gets home we decide on how to proceed...Call the paramedics-I THINK NOT. give me a ride to the ER-I'M NOT SITTIN UP!! This is not the day David will conquer Goalith. ok, call the paramedics because this pain is ridonkulus. i'm in the ER now so everything should get better....NOT! isn't morphine supposed to be a pain killer. you knoe kill the pain? get chad here!!!!!!!!!!! i need lightness and humor. my brother gets to the hospital after work and even with imense pain, his jokes are a welcome distaction. the nurse hands me 2 not 1 but 2 cups of orange syrup. DRINK both you have 1 hour. Are you smoking? i don't think i'll get 1 down let alone 2. x-rays are x-rays. the only problem there is even laying in my bed, i still felt like i was going to fall. i was totally prepared to fall off the bed!! It might hurt, but i'm already hurting-so its all good. i'm back to my curtain now and trying to tackle my hi-c fruit punch with way too much syrup and not enough water. Pretty proud-i drank 1/4 of the first cup full. YES!! doin good. then the nurse proceeds to tell me that i have 20 min to finish the remaining 7/4 or i will be the lucky winner of a nose tube. GIVE ME THE DRINK. i never knew that could have so much impact on me. i was able to drink both cups and so i was ready for a CT scan. i get to the machine and find out that i am getting injected with iodine. You will tingle all over and feel like you are having bladder issues the nurse says calmly. Shouldn't we calm the patient?? i am finally wheeled back to my husband and brother. Remove mouth and insert firehose--use your imagination for this part. more morphine-it didn't even work the first time. i now think the pain is getting worse. will it ever quit?!? enter doc- you have a kidney stone!!
i'm too young for this-according to my brother i'm officially old. i ride home with chad because his jeep is NOT Goalith.

FYI- the pain is equivalent to labor pains. Hence a new found respect for my mother!!

Battle of the sexes

This weekend, Chris and I got to play the game Battle of the Sexes. We played this game with Darin and Jena. We had so much fun!! It was the women folk against the men and was it a riot. The men had to answer questions that women know and vice-versa. Jena and I had a slow start but we won in the end. In the guys defense-cooking questions can be very hard.(Even we didn't know the answers to a few).

Just trying to stay warm!!

This is the main room of our new shack. It is a little chilly. After packing all six of us in this room and covering the openings and door ways it warms up pretty good. This picture is of the sleeping arrangements. 3 decided to try it out and 3 decided it was still too cold!!

Chad only got bundled up to go outside. All of the menfolk were so toasty that there was no need for a jacket-Mom and me on the other hand were still cold. Just in case your wondering...you know its warming up when I take off my jacket and the last day-I thought heat stroke was acoming.

How many?

My next few posts will describe my chillax time leading up to the 2010 holiday- ok let me clear my throat...this is a picture of the "treasure" chest that needs to be opened. Before that story let me tell another.
While Chad and McKay(a.k.a. 13) were in the process of toting this mystery treasure, a small piece of leather slides down the top and comes to rest on the stairs. 13 thinks it may potentially be a mouse- as he dances and stomps while balancing his end of the treasure...we laugh so hard our sides hurt.
Next- There were 4 leatherman tools given as Christmas presents in the family. Each tool had it's fair share of usage. At one time there were 3 leatherman's being used at the same time. Then comes out the drill- Bent 13's leatherman, Broke dad's pliers, and broke the drill, but by golly it still won't open. After everything was snapped and bent or broken it then took another 15 mins to open the treasure-What's inside you ask...
